I'm planning on doing my paper on the early development of the film industry. After watching Barton Fink and reading Walter Benjamin I've developed a curiosity in the difference between theater and film. I'm also curious on how film developed as a novelty to a major industry.
I think that's an interesting idea. In the media (and theaters, interestingly enough) we see the stage when only the rich can see movies and then the stage when everyone can see them. It's a rare thing to see the stage in between whenever they became a social explosion. Good idea!
ReplyDeleteSo, this will be a critical/historical research project? Or a comparative analysis between film and theater as forms of art/performance? Or a document of film's development as a viable medium of expression?
ReplyDeleteI'm reading three different ideas here.
